It could be an electrical problem. Now on the other hand it could be just that you need your engine service.

Randel, I feel your frustration. I'll see if I can start doing some research. This sounds like a multitude of electrical problems, maybe, and this is a longshot, they are somehow linked to a common fault.

Alternator or battery going bad? PCM get fried?

toastedoats 01-22-2006 09:59 AM

i would think alternator, battery or possibly the datalink connector isnt fully seated behing the IPC

Perhaps they all share the same voltage source? Had a similar problem with a late 90's Blazer that set off many what appeared to be unrelated DTCs. What that turned out to be was an intermittent short in the pressure sensor for the gas tank. When that shorted, it removed the voltage from all the other sensors on that circuit.

went out this morning to take a look see if i can see anything lose or notice any probloms, the gauges worked fine when i started it but the power door locks still didnt work and the tunk latch on the key fob and in the glove box didnt work, drive it around a little and the air bag light, the security light and the lettering for the Drive lights, you know the R D N 1 2 3 lights would flicker on and off but still seems to run fine, pull back in turn it on and off a few times and the gauges got screwed up again, i didnt notice any lose conections anywhere out in the open in the engine bay or anywhere else, this is frustraiting, if it IS the PCM would the car still run fine? or would it screw up the fuel mixter or anything else? if the altinater was bad would my stereo still work? it does. ... short in the fuel sencer? i HAVE been haveing probloms with the fuel gauge "floating" meaning it would read correct but from time to time drop low or run to full then go back to normal , hmm, this sucks and i have 0 cash to have someone look at it or fix anything
where can i find the datalink conector to check if its seated properly?

also all the lights( turn signel, dome lights and headlights) all work fine aswell

sounds very similar, the 93 used to do that quite often, the instrument panel would "flicker" on and off, it also made a annoying chiming sound (that sound when u leave the keys in the ignition, or leave lights on)

I think it's electrical no doubt, mine would run fine and then it would just go crazy, I never did actually find out what was wrong with it.
