I am hoping that someone out there has had this simular problem. When the car interior is cold, the is a real rattle coming from the steering column area. If I bang on the steering wheel i can generate the noise...until the interior warms up and then it goes away. Whe the car is cold...it rattles all the time (simple vibration from running).
I know that rattles are something that could be anything...but if someone has had something simular...I will start with their suggestion first.

Sounds similar to my problem, which was always worse when it was cold, or the car sat for a couple of days.
