also, since you mentioned heated seats, does anyone know if it would be difficult to install a set in mine? it is the only option i don't have.

check your fuses before you do anything else. There'* more than one fuse (I think.) atleast there is on my car. Haven't checked out the 2000+ models but I assume they're the same. The fuses are located under the back seat.

Mark I had the same problem at 33k. Drivers seat element was shot and they replaced the switch. I lucked out since the car was still under warranty. They could not replace the element in house,had to send out. I'm pretty sure theres some instructions on replacing the element in these forums.

I have replaced the element twice in my car ( long winters up here).
Look at the fuses first as mentioned and look at the relays located under the drivers seat too ( I had a bad one once).
The wire loom runs down the back right hand corner, if you take the connector apart and measure with an ohm meter it should be around 30 ohms (from memory) if the element is gone it will read infinity ( dead short would have caused the fuse to blow).
Theres actually 3 elements in each seat and both times it was the bottom element that failed (most flexed I guess?).
It takes about 2-3 hours to complete this job as theres a lot of tech in our car seats.
The air bag and seat belt are both mounted on the seat along with the seat controls and all the trim pieces.
I can help out and answer any questions anyone has if they want to try this.

Yep, just came here to search for this, as mine is doing the exact same. I couldn't find any elements on that site. Am I blind, or does anyone know where to get an element?

I guess I can take it off the passenger side. :P But my wife would probably catch on.

May not be as bad as you think. There is a little box (about 3"x3") under each seat. It'* near the front of the seat towards the left and held in place with 2 sloted screws. I swapped the boxes in my Bonne and now the driver seat heater works!!! I guess some time I'll try and order another one of those boxes and have both seats woking again.

I am finally going to try and figure out how to replace the lower element on the drivers seat. I am pretty sure that this is the one that is gone b/c right before it stopped working it got really really hot on one side and then stopped. Can you give me kind of a step by step way to do this? I tried testing it with the OHM'* meter but I don't think I did it right or I am testing the wrong place. I pulled the 4 wire plug from the 3x3 box under the drivers seat and then tried to test the OHM'* but it didn't even register at all. Any help would be great!

Can't believe it. I just got my radio lights fixed and next day the passenger seat heater quits. The switch light goes on and than releases right away. I can hear a relay under the seat "click" every time it does this.

Is there a fuse in the back that controls this, or is the relay possibly bad. I've never had any seat heater problem before and the car is still low mileage.
