Default GXP Has Strut Bar? OK for other Models?

I watched an episode of Motorweek this week in which they did a test drive of the new 2004 GXP. When they showed the engine compartment, I noticed that this model has a strut tower brace (strut bar). Anyone know if this part would work on other models (mine is an SE)?

It'* the same body, but finding one cheap (not many totalled GXP yet) means you're paying GM list. I think the sway bars would be more effective, albeit a 8/9 on a scale of 10 for hardness. STB is much easier.

It needs the brace, you don't.
Our Bonne'* have a much lighter engine. Check out the weight of the new GXP....3,940 lbs.
That'* about 140 extra lbs of engine weight over those front wheels.
Also note that the new one only pulled .79 g on the skidpad.
The 00 SSEi pulled .81 g stock without the strut bar. :P

I really didn't think the newer +00 models needed one because the firewall meets the strut towers right at the centerline instead of further back like the older models. :?

Why not? SC in the way? What was the reason for not fitting?

A while ago and I'm not sure I remember all the reasons, but I think the alternator was in the way for one as well as the map sensor and stuff. I can check again next time im over at INTENSE.

I agree. The power plant on the GXP probably burdens more on the front end requiring the STB.

what about +300lbs in the trunk, that throws off the balance just a bit huh?

Too bad about the STB bar, still want to get some interior trim off the GXP, silver door handles are nice.

I'm really surprised that you didn't incorporate a rear strut bar into that 300 lb boom box. You must really need it to support that heavy butt of yours.
