Man, has this club sure grown from 2 years ago when there were only about 50 of us. Its an awesome thing to see! Anyways, my '95 SSE just crossed 160k and is still going strong. I am honestly just completely in awe of this car. Now over 160k and no major problems what-so-ever. Original Exhaust, Struts, Coil Packs, Etc.. and 9 years old.

Unfortunately the time has come to move forward, and unless I change my mind and decide to go with a RWD Muscle car instead, I will most likely be selling the Bonny this spring. The good news is that its replacement (as of now anyways) is going to be a Black 2000+ SSEi, assuming I can find one locally with low miles and in descent shape.

Since I've been out of the loop and somewhat of a dormant member for the past couple years, and havent really visited this site or stayed up on L36 / L67 performance, my question to you guys and gals is whats new in the performance world? After looking around through some posts, it looks like we are FINALLY getting an aftermarket for these awesome cars, at least alot more of one than we had 2 years ago. Still no PCM Upgrade?? Whats up with that?? At least companies like Intense are actually selling H-Body specific versions of their kits and upgrades, which is an awesome step forward. How about exhaust? Other than TOG'* headers, anyone make a cat back kit yet?

Lastly, for those of you who spend alot of time in this section (2000+ Owners) any suggestions for my hunt? Any options, or warnings? Are 2001'* improved? Etc.. ANY info you guys might have would be great, and we'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll be talking to you guys alot more in the future

I've been or driven both the H body, and the G/H body 00+ ones. I prefer the older H ones myself.

But they handle a little better, have more of an aftermarket coming PCM wise. I drove a 400 lb/ft 2001 SSEi, owned by Rogue here on BC. FUN CAR!!!

well.. One thing for sure.. the 00+ don't have that stupid engine mount that blocks half the pulleys and requires you to pull the steering pump and whole lot of stuff out just to get to that 1 bolt... there was a notice about steering wheel clunk.. don't knwo where it is in here now that you might want be aware of and see if your new ride has been fixed or affected..

If you plan to upgrade the radio and audio equipment be wary of the Bose system. There has been some confusion on which system has more integration (GMLINK?) and what features you will lose if you upgrade your HU. Most of the 2000+ have the sterring "bump" issue, and most have been involved in a intake recall(?). No biggie on either. This is the best car that I have owned (number 13 by the way).

There are no cat back systems for our cars yet, many members have gone with a custom setup of their own design.
The L67 has a lot of upgrades available as well the 4T65EHD tranny.
The window regulators seem weak as many members have had them break, no know fix to date (poor gm design).
Some have had issues with the front end and steering but most have been covered under warrenty.
The tires are an odd size and the manfactures are limited but they are available.

This may help just a list of problems that i've had with my car:

Steering Vibration at Highways speeds (most common)
Intermediate Shaft in the steering (very very common)
Rotors SUCK (been through 2 pair and I honestly don't drive it that hard)
Heated Seats (mostly drivers side from what i hear)
Coil Packs
Front strut BOING popping noises...something with the springs.
Rust on the hood, mines on the underside right at the nose when you open it up.

Apparently that is fairly common, although it is an aluminum hood so it isn't rust, it is some sort of corrosion. Some are worse that others. My moms was on the nose like you said and it just kept getting worse and worse. It was about 3 inches around on the top and all across the front edge of the hood underneath. Since the car has a 100,000 mile rust protection warranty, we brought it to the dealer at 99,800 miles and they put a new hood on it. Looks awesome now! If I were you I would try the same thing. If the dealer says no, send the Pontiac customer service a nasty letter and they will make the dealer replace it. We brought my moms to one dealer (the one we bought the car at) and they said they couldn't do anything about it. Then we brought it to the dealer we bought the GTP at and they fixed it the next day, and gave us a free loaner car. So it all depends on the dealer, although the dealer HAS to fix it, so if they say they can't send Pontiac Customer Service a letter and the dealer will be told by them to fix your hood.

I had to have my injectors cleaned at 50K, I don't think that is too common.

Oh, can't forget to check for WATER DAMAGE in the TRUNK. errrrrrr.

But I still love my SSEI more than anything right now. Every car has some common problems.
