Fuel Gauge Wacky
My fuel gauge on my 2000 Pontiac Bonneville shows full and stays that way until the tank is nearly empty then it shows empty suddenly. I have been using the mile gauge as I have been told that to fix this would be very costly at near a thousand dollars. My solution has been to fill the tank every 245 to 250 miles and then set the mileage read to 0 and start again. Any different suggestions?

Sounds like you have a bad sender unit. I hope these links are still working, this was a good how to.

I'm very impressed and grateful to you, Dan for not only helping me with the fuel sender problem but your help with mix air actuator. I'm taking the car in this week to have the heating system fixed. However, I doubt that my mechanic will be as ambitious as to do what the guy in the three Youtube instructions did. Have any suggestions for a mechanic that might be and that works in either central or southern NJ? I found the Youtube pieces clear, instructive and fascinating but at 70 this lady doesn't think she can pull off this task. At least if I find a good mechanic who'* willing, I now can show him how someone has done it. You ARE a genius at this.

Hmmm, I think Billboost lives some what close. Try sending him a private message. There is a chance he might be able to help you out. He lives in CT I would be happy to help you, but Wisconsin is a bit of a drive.
Edit, I sent him a message with a link to this thread.

I'm here, What part of Jersey are you in, it sounds like the 4-6 hour range since I live on the northern border of CT. Although if you are good driving that way for a while, maybe we can get a meet or something together and fix that up during the time.

I'm in Brick, NJ which is in Ocean County located just below central NJ. Are you saying that if I'd drive up to CT that you'd be willing to fix the fuel gauge problem? If so, can I call and discuss it further?
