Mystery oil leak? Dealer can't figure it out.

Ok, picture looking under your Bonneville just ahead of the driver front tire. Looking into the square of the frame where the front A-Arm bushing is located.. Why am I getting a black oily substance coming out of that pocket???? Went to the dealer, they don't know what it is.

It's almost like there is oil coming out of the front part of the bushing itself when you look up in there. It's not much, but enough to put stains on the driveway. If you look under the hood, you can see the top of that bushing. Everything is dry and clean (Bonny only has 26K miles). Yesterday, there was a lot of thick black substance under that pocket . Only a little today. It's appears to be oil, but really thin, because you can rub it off your finger after a while. (no recent oil change, car was at the dealer to fix the Service Stability system and grease the intermediate shaft)

Anyone have any ideas??? They didn't start putting oil into the A-arm bushings did they? Wondering if the dealer sprayed oil up in that A-Arm pocket..

PM 2000SilverBullet a link to this topic. He has the same thing. I've seen it myself.

The leak I had was on the opposite side and was caused by an overfilled supercharger oil and a leaking axle shaft boot.

The leak on your driver side is located next to the anti lock brake mechanism. It could be an accumulation of brake fluid that is leaking out. Have the dealer look at that.
The only other possibility could be the front motor mount. It is actually filled with hydraulic oil and acts as a shock absorber.

The A-arm bushing is not filled with oil.

Thanks.. Figured the bushing didn't have oil. At this point though, I had to ask...

I checked all around the ABS system and it is clean. Motor mount is an idea, though it's pretty far from there. I will investigate that.
