Default Torque Steer

I'm experiencing an increased amount of torque steer lately. I have about 30K miles and get excessive torque steer when downshifting to slow down then hitting the gas while still in the lower gear. Example: The car will jerk left when I drop to second at 50 MPH then it jerks harder to the right when I floor it while still in the same lower gear and moving about 40 MPH. Any suggestions? :?:

I'm wondering if you're experiencing a normal increase in horsepower at engine breakin. Most modern GM Powertrains are notorious for a boost in power and efficiency at about 30k. If you don't actually have a mechanical problem, I'd suggest torque arms. They'll take about 70% of what you feel out of it.

Who manufactures a torque arm for the 2001 Bonneville? I'm familiar with the one at http://www.thrashercharged.com/L67_h...que%20arm.shtm.

I don't think that one will fit an H body. If you have patience, and welder, I'll have something for you in 30 days.

Default Torque Steer and LSD'*

I've been hunting down info on these cars for a few days now, whenever I have time. I found a site called zzperformance.com which offered a limited slip differential for these trannies. It is reported to dramatically reduce torque steer.

Anyone have any additional info or rebuttals to this claim?

A Limited Slip will definetely reduce torque steer, as the car will no longer pull to one side. If you have the money, I would recommend this option. Quaife is one of the better brands out there, and you can get one for roughly $1300 from the Grand Prix Store, here: http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.m...y_Code=GPUNDER
