Default Headlight Assembly - 2000 model year only???

I just got off of the phone with a local auto salvage dealer and he'* telling me that 2000 Bonneville headlights are different that 2001-2005 headlights and that replacements must come off of another 2000? Is he nuts? I tried to explain to him that I didn't think that was the case but he was pretty firm about it. :?

the best thing i can find based on limited research is the change on the ball-socket clip. I think the upgraded bumper design on the 05SLE and GXP incorporated the new plastic clip design

besides this i cannot think of what else could be of change in production... anything pre-04 should be interchangeable though

So, with regards to the eBay auction for the GXP headlights this week, would those not be a good fit for a 2000 Bonny?

i cannot tell for sure... i BELIEVE that if you remove the female end of the ball-socket that they should snap in just fine, but i do not know for sure :?

Hmmm. Well, I guess I should err on the side of caution and just find a stock headlight to clear.
