All interesting responses. I ordered the car with the block heater(since I knew my wife would claim the one open spot in the garage). It wouldn't make much sense for the dealer to have to drain the coolant in order to install the heater but then, with GM who knows.
I think I'll try the local auto parts store to see if they have a listing.

The Block heater would be located in a freeze plug hole. If you have no block heater and would like to install one, you would have to pull the center front. Most parts shops have them, no more than a couple bucks. Just dont forget to fill up and purge the antifreeze.
