L36 Engine Covers
 

The technical term is (fuel injector sight shield), but you guys know what I am talking about. I'm a little jealous of you guys with the L67 because you have a nice center bolt that fastens the cover to the blower housing. The L36 on the other hand has nothing; it sort of just lays there.

If I had an L67 I would leave it on, but right now I have mine off in storage. I think the L36 cover is kind of flimsy, is why I left it off.

Question: Am I doing a grave disservice to this Buick for leaving it off? Am I causing great disrespect towards the L36 Gods?

Not really, Mac. That sight shield is merely a cosmetic fixture in my estimation, and it's a heat trap on the L36. I think the L36 Gods will grant special dispensation to leave the sight shield off. 8)

The 3800 engine series gods look upon us cover removers on all their engines L27, L36 and L67 alike with smiles when we allow cooling air near the motor.

The dealer called it an "acoustic shield" so I thought it served some purpose...

I shall remove it today.

its actually better to remove the cover on the L36 to get the heat away from the engine
