Help with */c belt, testing coupler
My supercharger is noisy and I'd like to check the condition of the coupler as described here. I thought it would be a five minute job, but I found the belt difficult. Do I have to completely remove the belt (as described here) or is there a way to loosen it so I can take it off the supercharger, wiggle the pully, and put it back on?

You may also want to pull the supercharger belt off, start the car, and see if the noise is gone. If the noise is definitely related to the supercharger belt, but you don't see/feel/hear anything wrong with the coupler, look at the idler pulley. They have more of a tendency to fail than the supercharger.
Removing the belt is a simple matter of putting a ratchet wrench with the proper socket on the anchor bolt of the tensioner puller, and turning to release belt tension. Use a piece of pipe to extend the ratchet handle for better leverage.

Thanks for the help. I wasn't sure which pully was for the tensioner at first, so when I looked up the belt removal procedure, I became discouraged at all the work involved. I didn't think it should have to be that hard just to loosen the belt to check a pully so I thought I'd ask.
2kg4u, the noise is deffinently coming from the supercharger. I had an independent mechanic (my brother-in-law) confirm for me before I bought the car a few months ago. I'm just now getting around to fixing it.
On a side note, besides changing the oil and coupler on a supercharger that is "working fine", is any other */c service recommended? I'm doing this as maintenance because of the noise and also because the car has 105k miles and I have no record of previous maintenance on it.

There should be nothing more you need to do. Unless you have a press and want to change the bearings, but really is not needed. Change the coupler and the oil and you will be fine.
