Default A slow, painful death?

Lately, I've noticed in the GS a funny behavior that I attribute to the transmission.

Once the torque converter has locked up, but at a low speed (I think it locks in around 48 MPH), if you ease into the gas, but not enough for it to downshift, it chugs and bucks. Obviously, the more you push the gas, but not enough for that downshift, the more it does it.

I highly doubt it'* an ignition issue since I just 100% went through the engine. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, yada, yada, yada.

So, is there any hope for this thing? Or, should I just plan on a rebuild in the near future? We're hoping to take this car to Florida in March. :?

Oh, BTW, it has 105,000 miles.

So, did you ever really figure it out?

All my engine work was done 3,000 miles ago. AC Delco wires and Autolite plugs.

i was talking to a trans shop the other day about ideas for my bonne... he was mentioning the modulator valve goes in them.... causes hard shift etc... could this ber it?

Vital, Does it feel like the tranny is trying to shift when it does it? Is it right at the point when the RPM are trying to drop and after it does it'* not an issue until you slow down and then speed back up. Also, if you drive more aggressive then light footing it, it doesn't do it?

I am seeing this with my 95. I haven't figured it out yet but I am also running a little rich. High HC levels, see my post here for that issue http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...475&highlight=
In my case I think the two are related
I did everything I can think of to try to correct this except running some Seafoam in it, which I am going to do tomorrow.

For your info things I've tried so far are:

    Edit to add - I also cleaned the throttle body, MAF and IAC

    coils, icm, tps, maf, all could potentially cause this problem.

    your torque converter clutch could also have seen better days before.

    It doesn't feel like the tranny is trying to shift unless I give it more throttle. More demand will equal the down shift. It'* not right when the RPM are trying to drop, but AFTER the RPMs have dropped and the torque converter is fully engaged. If I drive it more aggresively it doesn't do it all. I just happened to notice it one day and turned to my wife and asked her about it. She said it happens all the time. This coming from the girl who drives any car EXTREMELY nicely. Her record boost pressure is .8 lbs. and that was on the e-way when she went to pass someone.

    I have the same problem on my 00 SSEi, the tranny shop said the PCS could be replaced but its gonna cost about $1200. Its been doing it since about 150,000 and now I have 216,000 miles.

    Little update on this....

    I turned to regalgs.org for assistance on this one. Have quite a thread going over there. Apparently this is more of an issue in the Regals for whatever reason. The common culprit is a lazy throttle position sensor. I bought a new GP Sorensen unit and installed it a few days ago. I haven't had a chance to test drive it since the swap (it'* my wife'* DD and I've been swamped with life things), but she claims it'* better. Better in her terms could mean a million different things. But, I plan to really test it out this weekend.

    If that doesn't do it, I'm leaning toward a true transmission issue. So, I'll drop the pan and drain out as much fluid as possible. I'll replace the filter and the necessary fluid to get it topped off again. We'll see where that leads me....
