Default Temp gauge reading

Hello all. First time starting a post, but have a quick and easy one for you....
I am in the process of buying a 2000 SLE and the car is running right at 200 degrees on the temp gauge. It hasn't gone higher, but is that average for these cars? Coolant looks fine.

right it should stay @ 200degrees! any higher you have problems!! i dont believe any car should go pass 200degrees!! you want your car to run cooler not hotter!! how much do they want for the car?? how many miles??

I am getting the car for $7500. It is black with damn near everything on it. The only thing it doesn't have is the supercharger (rats!!) and the cool wheels. I am in desperate need of some SSEI rims. The 17" 20 spoke rims aren't near as sporty as I would like.
I am planning on posting pictures as soon as the ink is dry in the paperwork. I can't wait!
Thanks for the information on the temp gauge. I was assuming as much, but wasn't quite sure. The Grand Prix I was driving only ran around 160-175, so this concerned me.
Thanks!
Ben

Forgot the miles...it just turned 107k on me the other day.
Drives and looks like it only has 10k on it though!

haha well i was just curious on the miles thats all....... 7500 is a good deal. you probably had a different thermostat..a 160degree one.. they have different ones.. when you get your car, you should drop a 180degree one in it!
