Default can't figure out brake squeal

ok, This is actually on my riv, but its brakes are identical to the 2000+ Bonneville'*. My problem is that They won't stop squealing! I took the brakes apart and put 'disc brake quiet' goop on them, and they were quiet for 3 days, but now they squeal like hell again. It'* really making me mad how they are quiet for 3 days after I take them apart, then they just start doing it again just as bad as before. any ideas? this is really driving me nuts. I've already replaced the pads twice now and no luck...

How are the rotors, they may be warped?
Is this noise only when braking or is it present during slow cruising?

The squeal is only during light braking. Under hard braking it goes away. WHen cruising it'* totally quiet. My neighbor said he thought it was the rotors, he said there was a lip on them on the edge from the wear and that they look like they're pretty worn down. Me, I have no idea how to tell if they're worn or not. I want maybe some slotted rotors. I know they're available on the bonneville, but I can't find any for my car even though I believe they use the same brake parts.

Sounds simiar to warped brake rotors, when brake hard the calipers grab harder and the squeal goes away.
Sorry I dont have the part number for your rotors but do have them for the bonneville.
I belive the bonnevilles (ssei) are 11 59/64" diameter but have never measured myself.

I have this same annoying squeal and I know for a fact that my rotors are not warped nor do they have hot spots. I put a dial indicator on my rotors after reading this post and both sides were within less than half a thousandth of total run out. That is as close to perfect as I think one could get.

I have done the same thing as Custom88 with the brake quiet grease only to have the squeal come back 2-3 days later. I attribute the squeal to bad brake pads. The pads that are on it right now I believe are semi-metallics that were put on by the dealership before I bought it, even though they are ceramics originally... The pads that are on there now put a black film on my rims in a little under 1 week.

Pretty soon though, I will be putting on a set of Raybestos Quiet Stop Ceramics and hopefully cure the problem. I will take some 80 grit sand paper to the rotors before I put on the new pads to ensure that the pads break in properly.

Good luck to you and all, but those are the same brake pads that I have on there now. I'm thinking about just buying new rotors for the hell of it. I'll just get the Raybestos 'Quiet Stop" PG plus from advance auto. BTW, I looked it up and all Bonneville brake hardware has the same part numbers as the Riviera'*.
