Default Replaced a key & transmitter

Had to replace a key & transmitter today for my 2000 bonnie. $136, includes tax and programming. Now that I've ponnied up the money, as soon as I get home today, someone in my house will come up to me and say "hey, aren't these the keys you lost?" Perfect.

You could have done it for half that, and programmed it yourself.

But you didn't want to know that, did you?

Bill, on the 00+ Bonnevilles the GM dealer has to encode any new transmitters.

Actually I did kinda. I had read up a bit on it around here. Has anyone successfully programmed the transmitter without having, owning or knowing someone with the right equipment?

I think he'* just being funny (yeah right) lol I can't recall anyone with an 00+ programming the remote transmitters, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Maybe some other GH'*, or knowledgable individuals will chime in here.

Every procedure that I have read requires a scan tool to put the RFA module into program mode, The transmitters that have already been programmed can be resynchronized if they stop working by holding down the lock and unlock on the remote for 7 seconds.
