Default Stability System

[color=green]Ok I have a question and I hope someone can help me out. I bought a 2002 SSEi back in August and I noticed a noise when I'd turn. Well after many many times of taking the car back they finally figured out that the rack and pinion was bad. They replaced it, but after I got it back, when i'd turn a semi-sharp turn, the low trac light would come on, the wheel tried to turn me back the other way, and the computer screen on the dash would say Stability System Active. Well it'* been back and forth a dozen times and they aren't sure what it is. They tried putting another rack in the car and it still does the same thing. Also every now and again the computer screen says Service Stability System. I'm wondering what could possibly have caused this just by changing the rack. If anyone can help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!
Leslie

The stability system relies on a few things, the yaw sensor (not sure really where this is) and the 4 wheel speed sensors. My guess is that one of the WSS in the front hubs were damaged (or the wires) or not plugged in right when they did the rack. I seem to recall a wire/sensor in the steering column also which may have been broke if they free spun the steering with the rack out.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the did, and the sadder thing is they don't know either. I've been looking up some things on here and I found a similar problem and a few of the guys told her to get the Steering Position Sensor checked out. I'm just at a point that I'm ready to scream! They have had my car more than I have in the 1st month and a half. It'* getting sad really.

The steering position sensor is what I'd guess to be the problem. The system uses that to know which way the wheels are turned along with other sensors to know when to try to pull the car out of a skid by applying the front brakes. (I believe the yaw sensor and the lateral accelerometer(sp?) are both by the back seat.)
