Default Transmission shakes

I have a 2000 Bonneville ssei The trans is auto, and when I shift it in to drive or reverse it shakes the car. But when acclerating and driving it is really smooth. What could it be? Also, I have a like almost clicking when steering either way. The service stability system light is on too. Please tell me what it could be. Otherwise everything is amazing.

As for the trans shaking, check the trans mounts. The front drivers side mount is a good one for doing as you describe. Check for anything loose. The clicking in the steering is your intermediate shaft. I believe that needs to be replace to correct the clicking.

How much would a intermediate shaft cost, and how hard would that be to install?

Pop your hood and have someone watch your engine as you shift from park to reverse to drive a few times with the engine running. With your car in drive, give it a little gas (DO NOT RUN OVER THE GUY LOOKING AT THE ENGINE). If your engine is bucking like a race horse you have bad mounts. The front mount is susceptible to failure on your car. If you need a new front mount, do a search for "solid mount mod" on this forum. The OE mount is quite expensive and there is a very cheap way you can make one. I have a solid mount on my car.

I drove the car today and I find that when the car is cool or when I start it for the first time within a few hour it shift in to drive and reverse just fine with out the shaking. but if i take it for a drive for lets say 5 or more, and then park it or put it in reverse of shift or anything, the car/engine and maybe the trans shakes.I it drives great, and accelerates just fine, just when shifting when car is hot or running for a while it shakes. I don't know if that makes a difference in what it wrong with it.

Thank you, It was the motor mounts, also thanks for the tip 2kg4u about popping the hood and giving it some gas, I found a guy who can get the parts and put it in for $200 straight.

Would you rather do it for $10?
