Default How does one seat the L drive axle in the tranny?

What'* the best way to force the inner CV joint hub over the snap ring on the output shaft splines in the side of the transmission?

Hmm. No one knows, why? Because it is not a cut and paste answer from AllData. Everything says something like "install inner CV joint." No details given.

If everyone is still clueless, I'll post my solution in a couple of days.

Still no answers? Most of the members probably use a method something like this:

Insert car into dealership service bay parking area.
Leave
Return at a later time
Open wallet & remove credit card
Think about the mega bonus points being racked up on the card.
Drive away

Personally, I don't think that'* the best way.
I already know how to spend money.

When you make sarcastic posts like this you are not going to get a huge response from people. There is nobody here that lives on the forum and monitors it for a speedy response. We are all just a lot of people who have everyday lives and have fun with our cars.

Along with that could you be a little more specific about
inner CV joint hub over the snap ring on the output shaft splines
and pictures help a lot too?

IF i understand your post. I think the snap ring should be in the female splines of the CV shaft not on the splines of the output shaft inside the tranny. You are talking about the Drivers side CV axle? If not consider re-wording your post.

Exactly. I saw your post and immediately clicked off because I was turned off by your attitude. A simple adjustment of that will get you very far on this forum.

With identifiers such as "Resident Gearhead", one is lead to believe such members reside... somewhere?

Pardon my mistaken as harsh remarks.

One can see that patience is required. I, too, can be patience, soooo I'll post my solution in a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days.

I'm just another member having some fun on this forum.

The snap ring is located in a circumferential groove in the splines on the outside diameter of output shaft in the transmission. The inner CV joint on the Left or driver'* side, US, (actually driver'* side would be the right side for any Australian members) has female splines on the Inside diameter. The peaks of these splines have a smaller circumscribed diameter than that of the uncompressed snap ring.

Here'* a photo w/o the side cover on.

The output shaft has the yellow end in the middle of the large circle on the right. If you look closely, the snap ring can be seen about a 1/4" inboard on the (^ above) splined shaft.
