Driver side floor gets wet
I have a 2002 Bonneville SLE model. I have owned this car since it was new. When it rains heavy, water is making it'* way to the floorboard of the drivers side. Anyone ever heard of or seen this type of leaking. It can't be coming from under the door, because i have seen it when i haven't even driven the car. Any help anyone can provide would be great. Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

Hey it looks like there is another person having the same problem with their car. My 02 SE has been in the shop 7 times for this problem since April of this year. Take a look at these posts:

I have taken it to 2 different dealerships and gotten the same results...still leaks. Each time I bring it in they change the deflector inside the door. This last time they kept my car for over a week trying to get it to stop leaking. I just got my car back again on Friday and it has rained everyday since. So far no leak. I hope its really fixed this time. Unfortunately the door has been apart so many times now there is a rattle coming from the speaker in the door especially when there is a lot of bass in the tunes.
Is there a way you can tell what day of the week a car was assembled? I think my car may have the chronic assembled on a Monday disease. This last time it was in they also had to re-align all of the doors and they ordered a new driverside mirror too. The glass in my mirror vibrates at over 50 mph.

I will definitely be going to the dealer soon, i only have 8500 miles on this baby. After enough exposure to the water, won't the padding under the carpet be ruined, if there is padding there? I also have the vibrating noise from front left speaker. Whats REALLY wierd is that i only notice it when the sunroof is open. They replaced the speaker, but it still does it. So is the water actually coming in from somewhere up above and getting back behind the seals because of the deflector being bad?

water leak
I HAD that same problem.I removed the entire rug, front and rear because it was soaked It took three weeks to dry completely. What a mess. While the rug was out I looked and found the water leak. Without the rugs you can quickly find any water leak. Under the plastic housing for the wiper arms on the drivers side there was a small gap in the body seam that was not filled with sealer. Water would run off my windshield, into the hole and enter the car through another hole inside the car down by the emergency brake and fill front to back of the drivers side with water. To fix this correctly I blew out the holes with my air compressor, waited a couple of days to dry out and filled only the outside gap with body seam sealer. The outside gap was the problem, the hole inside was a factory knock out for something so I left it alone. Everything has been good since and its over 1 year.

My car started having this problem at about 12,000 miles and it has almost 16,000 on it now. I don't know if the padding is ruined but it sure does smell after it has been wet for awhile. At least the dealership cleans the carpets everytime I bring it in so the smell is gone when I pick it up.
The deflector is like a plastic sheeting that goes on the door behind the door panel. It is supposed to keep water away from the enterior of the car and channel it towards the drain holes in the bottom of the door.
The water gets in from around the door windows. The window seals are not water tight because the windows move up and down. In the case of my car the deflector was damaged, installed incorrectly, not glued on properly, defective, whatever I heard it all. Because of this the water would come into the car instead of going through the drain holes in the bottom of the door. They told me that there is a service bulletin about this but I dont remember the number. Whatever the case it seems like there are a few people that have been having this problem. I hope that this will not be a recurring issue for the remainder of the car'* life.

I have only had my Bonneville for a couple of months and it only did it once. However on my '93 Grand Am and my 2002 Grand Am every time after a hard rain, the first time or two that I turned left my left foot would get soaked. :?

I had the same problem with my 02 SLE. I took it to 3 different dealers and finally got one that fixed it. They replaced the deflector and pulled the carpet up to dry out. I had it fixed about two months ago. Had no problems with all the rain we have had. Good luck

My 00 SSEi is back in the shop again for the 6th time for water leaks up until now the dealership has been covering all of the work. 1) trunk leak, 2 & 3 moon roof leak, 4 & 5) passenger front and rear floorboards, 6) water standing in the drivers side front and rear floorboards. On hold right now with Pontiac help line now. this just pisses me off really bad due the fact that i've an 88 mazda 626, 861/2 nissan pickup 4X4 that are daily drivers as well with no leaks, come on GM lets fix it.
