2000 shuting off while driving
i have had a problem with my 2000 ssei now for a couple of weeks and i haven"t been able to track it down. sometimes when i am driving my car just shuts off and i have to pull over and restart the car. The car always starts back up and no service lights come on, all that happens is the red battery pic on the dash lights up and the car is no longer running. A couple of times this has happened i had my D.I.C on the battery gauge and it read 14.7 though the whole shut down. This problem only seems to happen in the first 15 - 30 mins of the 1st start up of the day and will sometimes happen up to 3 times in a row where i will restart drive a bit more and the car will die out again but it always starts right back up then will not do it anymore the rest of the day. I have had it put on the scanner and nothing showed up. I had the plugs and wires changed and took it to a shop and they changed the ignition module out i don't know what to try next. I have been very frustrated with this so i turn to you guys and hope you have some ideas on what i can do instead of just changing out part after part thanks

Did you clean up where the grounding strap from the battery connects to the floor pan? That can get pretty rusty. Also, check fuse #19 in the under hood fuse block per this thread. Those are the two easiest and cheapest solutions. If those don't help, you may be looking at a bad crank sensor.http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=asc&start=120

I had this problem on mine a while back. Replaced one of the sensors on the TB that I forget the name of right now. IAC??? Someone correct me. That took care of my problem.

I had a similar situation, as did Toasty and someone else recently. In the end it seemed that we found some metal particles stuck to the crank sensor. And either cleaning it off or replacing it did the trick.
Hopefully that gives you at least one more option to try.

Is cleaning this crank sensor something i can do?(if so how?) or would i have to take the car somewhere and have that done? I am going to go out and take a look at that #19 fuse and see if that does anything
