Default Worn adjuster link and blown air shock

Got the call from the mechanic and he said he discovered (at left rear) an "adjuster link" that he also referred to as 'type of rear tie rod' that was worn out -- could this be the same thing as BillBoost mentions you can adjust the ride height with?

This issue might explain the shimmy I keep feeling between 60 and 70 MPH -- we'll see.

$178 for the part (all figures Canadian dollar -- convert at .90 for US equivalent) and one hour labor.

He recommended a 4 wheel allignment but I suggested I will get that done next week after first noting any change in handling/shimmying etc.

Also, left rear air shock completely toast. He suggested the AC Delco'* (which include the mounts).....but at $256 EACH!!! (approx $225 US each), then plus labor.... ....ouch!! Can that be right? Alternatives?

Monroe shocks are available for 75/pr and the mounts can be bought for 30/each.. i wouldnt spend the money on the OEMs, not worth it IMO

Are you referring to the Monroe Max-Airs? Those appear to be designed for heavy towing (vs comfort handling). I could only find the Max-Airs on the Monroe site which is kind of weird.

Correction/Edit: I believe the Max-Airs are in fact the only option and my mechanic said they would be comparable to the oem Ac Delco'*. Unfortunately they won't install parts I could bring to them, so unfortunately I will have to let them charge me $150 per shock instead of the $124 per shock from PartsSource. Oh well, still way less expensive then at the Stealership....

This is a link to the parts explosion for front and rear suspension. For the rear, part #5 is likely what the mechanic wants to replace. It has nothing to do with the leveling control. It stabilizes rear suspension from horizontal movement, and keeps it alignment. If it'* bad, it should be replaced. Then, a 4 wheel alignment should be done.

Suspension

This is for the ride height sensor.
Automatic Level Control Sensor Replace

Monroe only has one option for the rear shocks for our cars.
