Hello all. I finally found the Bonneville I wanted.. A 03 SSEi Ivory white hard loaded.. YEAH! Has 22K miles on it. Bonny'* are extremely rare in East TX.

Unfortunately, I notice it smells like coolant so I popped off that top cover. I'll be damn if there isn't two puddles of coolant above #1 and #2 cylinders of the intake.. On the good side, I have warranty.. Bad side.. Hope the local Pontiac dealer knows how to do a good job.

Do you all think it'* the gasket leaking for is it coming up through the bolts?

I am so tired of Antifreeze leaking GM vehicles.. I have a 94 Chevy I tore apart, got a 99 Suburban with 33K miles leaking all over, mothers Northstar Cadillac went empty once already, and now this.. Sorry for the downer sounding introduction, but I wanted to see if any other SSEi folks have battled this.

Most likely it'* the gasket. Seems like you are the 3rd or 4th 2000+ SSEi to have the problem in the past month here. :? Not a good trend.
**Wonders to self** Did GM use a different gasket on the 2000+ L67 as compared to the 1996-1999 Series II L67?

Unfortunately it'* still not over, there is still dexcool getting into the oil. I'm hoping its residual i missed, but i'm not sure going to try one more oil change.

Take the oil fill cap off and look on the inside of the oil cap, see if there is dexcool splattered all over the inside of the cap, that is how i found mine was leaking into the oil. Let me know what you find I'll be interested to know.

Might be, but I don't think so. My 97 also leaks. I can always smell coolant when I pop the hood and the engine is wet, but it doesn't puddle up. On mine it is an extremely slow leak.

Just got done from picking up the car. Mechanic says that'* the first Supercharged he has had to do (I live in a smaller town). Says he'* done several non-SC'd though. BTW, there was no coolant inside the motor.

Had them change the oil in the Supercharger since it was off the car and he could tip it over and thoroughly empty it. He said it didn't need it, but I told him why not. Besides, it only cost $25 for two bottles of oil.

Hated taking my new ride to the dealer. I see a scratch around one of the fog lights, but I haven't owned it long enough to tell if he did it or not.. I just hate having someone work on my cars!! Anyhow, it'* fixed.. FYI

what exactly did they replace? i'd be interested to know.

Apparently, he just replaced the intake gaskets. I see new gaskets between the intake and the heads, and a new gasket between the bottom of the intake and the block. (unlike SB Chevy'* where you use RTV instead of the gasket). But here is what all is listed on the receipt:

(Guess you take the "G" off and that'* the part number). Sure is alot of stuff he replaced. Then he had G12345982 which was the oil for the supercharger. (2 bottles).

Under those numbers, he has:

REPLACED INTAKE GASKETS UPPER AND LOWER, VC GASKETS (LEAKING OIL) THROTTLE PLATE AND GASKET, CHANGED OIL


Hate to ask how much it would have cost if it wasn't under warranty. I asked him about doing our '99 Suburban and they quoted me $450.. Guess I'll do that one myself.

By the way, I did ask him if he did anything extra to keep it from happening again.. He said no.. Just replaced the gaskets and I can tell he used some RTV around the bottom of the manifold. HOPEFULLY, he put some RTV around the coolant passages, and some kind of thread-sealant on the bolts(??)..

Oh well, we'll see. Just hate taking cars to mechanics.. Rather do it myself.

yah those are the same parts i replaced. I did make sure to put sealent on the bolts when i put them back in because the ones around where it was leaking go right next to the water passages and you could see where it was weeping into the threads. I agree i hate other people working on my car, but i would have loved the extended warranty with mine
