Default SES Light on

New problem just cropped up today! Drove to Houston and back (~200 miles) and the "Service Engine Soon" light pops on and now stays on. Possible emissions component problem?

Let'* see ... spark plugs and wires, OnStar upgrade, valve cover gaskets, new plastic fittings on water pump, serpentine belts, broken windshield washer tubing, gas door lock problem, SES light, thump in trunk, and wheel vibration ....

If this keeps up, I may need to trade it in for a younger model ..... :(

Boy, I'd love to have a younger model, but then again, I'd just take a model in general

Anyways... What is the exact code you are getting? Emmisions can mean anything from a bad O2 sensor to a bad cat, so it would really help to know the exact code you're getting

I need a refresher - how do you retrieve the codes on this thing without a scan tool? (Equus 3100 ?)

Take it to Advance, or Autozone, and have them pull the code for you for free, then let us know what they found.

EGR code P0404. Then took it to the local dealer, they checked EGR, cleaned it (?), checked connections, found no issues and reset the code.

Did not charge me either ! (how about that?)

(They'll probably stick to me later on)
