You're airbag light is on because there is a fault somewhere in the airbag system. You could take it to a dealer and have them run a Tech II scan to see if the module has a communication link or if there is a voltage issue in the loop. Once repaired, the light should go out.

Sure...do you know what you are doing? Do you know where all the sensors are? Do you have a voltmeter? Do you have wire diagrams?
Did you know you can actually set them off accidentally? When these bags go off, than can seriously mess you up. Personally....I wouldn't mess with them and I consider myself to be a better than average mechanic and relatively fearless. But, air bags scare the bejesus out of me....

Also....you have an issue with your air bags. they may not deploy in an accident. You owe it to yourself and those you care for that ride with you, to get them fixed. They do save lives and they do prevent hideous injuries.

That'* your call my friend. IMO...I would not allow any mechanic I didn't know or trust touch my car, let alone any safety devices on it.
