Saw engine moving today, had already replaced mount..found the frame cracked at the point where the stud goes through, anybody else ever see this?

One might think that I take this to the track and push the envelope with it but nothing could be farther from the truth, my wife drives this thing and babies it big time, of course situations come up where you have to accelerate and there is pressure put on the mounts but really?

These shots are from under the front of the car near the radiator looking up at the nut/stud that attaches the motor mount to the frame.

Sorry the pics arent as clear as I wish they were, but I think you can see the crack around the mounting point

Kinda looking for suggestions, looking like it might be time to start welding?

I believe that'* a washer you see there. You can jack up the car, support the subframe with jack stands and remove that bolt for inspection.

Yeah, I don't think that is frame rail where you see the cracks. Like Dan said, remove the nut, and inspect the area. Probably only needs a new washer.

Thanks for the response fellas. Maybe I over reacted? If you look the first picture the nut is off, the second pic it is on...

I looked again at it today, putting it in drive and accelerating slightly, it appears that the movement is all coming from the oem marshmallow mount, I watched under neath and the stud in the pic, (which is the one coming out of the bottom of the mount) does not move and the frame apparently is fine..

I guess I just freaked when I saw how much movement there was in the mount and the mount was not seperated or broken like you see when they fail, just flexes more than I was expecting..

I was gonna edit my last post but found out that thats not an option? ok, Anyway was just gonna throw in that the washer is made on the nut so that wasn't the problem, it was just me over reacting and my 50 something eyes dont do well looking upside down through the wrong side of bifocals!
