Default Fuel Pump Resistor Fix

My fuel gauge is acting up. This happened to my brother last year and pontiac said that he had to get a new fuel pump even though the fuel pump was fine. My question is, is there any way to fix the resistor module or replace it with a new one? I did a search and couldn't find anything, help would definitely be appreciated, for me and my bank account.

the fuel pump and the sending unit are one unit unfortunately. That is why you have to replace 'both' when you fix one or the other. It sucks but it'* just how it is. My gas gauge too does not work on the Riviera I had but I never fixed it. THe cost (over $300) wasn't worth it to me.

False !!
They are separate units. Just replace the fuel sending unit.

The dealer has lied to me... (again)
I hate it when they take advantage of me just because of my age.

Most of the time they aren't lying....they are simply ignorant and don't know everything about every model.

My dealer replaced it for me under warranty. I watched him do it. It was separable from the fuel pump and took him about 1/2 hr to do. The sending unit cost about $100.
Don't know the part number but the dealer must.....try another dealer.

I'm not sure about 2000+ SSEis, but I checked on my 2000 Grand Prix and the only way to buy these parts is as a complete assembly; fuel pump, sender unit and guage, lists for about $700 Cdn.

If the dealer replaced only some of the parts under warranty, that'* their prerogative I guess, but I don't think you can buy just the sender unit, despite the fact it can be installed seperately.

Can you get more details from your replacement Paul?

Cheers,
