Default Dual Magnaflow Muffler with Tip. Anyone have this????

Hello. I just bought a 2002 SSEI and I want to do some new exhaust with it. I have a friend that has a Grand Prix GTP that did dual Magnaflow mufflers like these ones:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/*...ne=main&id=765

These are the mufflers with the tips on them. I really like the look of this. I looked under my car and there is plenty of room under there for these. They are the same body size as the stock ones so I think it should be fine. I would just have to have them mounted farther back as the stock muffler has a pipe going to the tip that is 14" long, this tip is only 4" long. Does anyone have a setup like this?? Does anyone see a problem with it. I know the install shop will just have to make new hangers which is no big deal.

The other idea would be to just replace the stock mufflers with standard Magnaflow mufflers, then run new pipe back from the muffler to a single tip on each side. I can get a nice single round tip for each side or a tip just like the stock one that is polished from Magnaflow.

Let me know what you think.

Are you looking for a different sound or more performance?

I can understand the sound, but the SSEi exhaust on the 00+ bonnies flows VERY well from the cat back.

I am looking for more sound for sure. I also like the look of the muffler that has the tip on it already. The stainless steel polished mufflers look really good. I think there is plenty of room under there for this type of muffler in the link. I am just asking if anyone has this or thinks it will fit.

I may just replace the two stock muffles and then put on some new tips. I would like to do the mufflers listed in the link above. What do you think???

It may look like there is plenty of room under there, but make sure that you don't go too long on the muffler because the stock mufflers don't sit straight front to back. They're on an angle. With a tip on muffler type, you have to have the muffler sitting straight front to back. Just a word of warning.

BTW, I think they would look great under there, I just wanted to make sure that you measure it twice before you buy. If you end up too long, you'll have to make some sharp bends in the piping and end up hurting your performance.

I just measured the stock system and here is what I found:

The stock muffler is 14" long and there is 14" from where the exhaust pipe exits the muffler and goes back to the tip. I saw how the stock system comes into the muffler with a bend and then angles out to the tip. So in the stock area there is 28". The tip on muffler is 18" from the inlet to the end of the tip. That would leave me 10" of room. I think that should be enough to come off the stock y pipe and then just have them put in new pipe with an angle up and then to the side to get each muffler in the right place. They will just have to make some new hangers. I really like the look of these mufflers but I would hate to buy them and they not fit. Do you think the 10" would be enough room???

I guess I can always fall back on my second option. I can replace the stock mufflers with Magnaflows and then replace the stock tips with some nice Magnaflow tips......
