Fuel mileage/loping idle

Are you guys serious 30 mpg? :shock: I have a 2k ssei and average like 20.4 according to the computer. Also the engine at idle once its warm is some what roughi it doesn't seem to miss it jhust seems to lope a little is this normal or is this a bad sign? :feedback:

LakevilleSSEi 09-19-2005 08:12 AM

I've had higher on some occasions out of my 95 SSEi

Archon 09-19-2005 11:46 AM

It depends on my hightway/city ration, but if I do close to a 50/50 mix, I get around 21-22. That's with new wires, plugs, O2 sensor, 1 new coil pack (rusted terminal), new fuel filter, new air filter, and cleaned throttle body.

San Juan Cruiser 09-19-2005 01:38 PM

thnx doesnt sound too unusual then

hvactech 09-19-2005 02:32 PM

I get about 23mpg average with mostly freeway driving. Idle is a little rough. Seems like a very slight miss at times.

Ghost gets about 29 to 34 on the highway depending on speed and terrain of the highway. If its any indication, I can go about 140 miles on a quarter tank.

mike_peperni 09-19-2005 06:18 PM

i dont know how many mile per gallons i do, ill check (mine is in kmh) but it said 12 liter\100km , and for the rought idle, many members experience that and it look like its normal.

2000Supercharged 09-19-2005 07:23 PM

My 2000 gets about 18-20 city driving and 27 highway. Depends on the highway speed, though - only going 55 I'll get mid-thirties.

Thanks every one still learning the quirks of the car. Not that there is many. :!:

IO 09-20-2005 05:38 PM

Hey this week I hit 12.3MPG. I really don't know how everyone gets the 20's. I've never gotten that!

mike_peperni 09-20-2005 07:35 PM

if you take that your mpg on the dash, thats probably why, its an average, not soooo accurate.

Chad V 09-20-2005 08:42 PM

Plus keeping you foot off the back of the engine by mashin the petal through the floor would help some. :twisted: :!:

hvactech 09-21-2005 02:01 PM

I think when these guys say they are getting 30 mpg, they refer to instant mpg on the freeway........there is not one out there that "averages" anywhere near 30mpg.

Rogue 09-21-2005 02:26 PM

Properly tuned with light modifications (such as a 3.4 and rockers) an SSEi could get 33 or so average highway miles at 70mph. My car used to.

techy 11-28-2005 10:28 PM

On a trip at 70 to 75mph my 93 ssei averaged 28-30 mpg on a tank. My 97 ssei gets about 25mpg. My dad's 95 ssei gets about 30mpg on trips.

Hi Mike, have you tried hitting the EM button and watching your km/h change the mp/h on the speedo and the mileage and fuel used, fuel range all change to MILES/MPG. Watch the needle to a little dance if your cruising then hit the EM button, cranks down tot he MP/H equivelent. More precise for us Canucks

2003 SE here getting 31.7 mpg on 2 different full tank round-trips. Had about 20 miles of city driving on each trip, with the highway speeds running 75-80 mph. I'm Happy! :P

Mark Fahey 12-10-2005 05:45 PM

The mileage computer is amazingly accurate. I compared it's reading with a calculated value averaged over several full tanks and they agreed to within 0.1mpg.

harofreak00 12-10-2005 05:47 PM

highway = 27 mpg
city = 12 :twisted:
