Default 2002 Bonneville sse dash cluster mystery

Hi all, I am new to this forum and looking for any advice available on how to fix my 2002 Bonneville ssei.

My dash intermittantly cuts out. When this occurs I lose my speedometer, tachometer and signal lights. When this cuts out the signal lights do not work on the dash or on the lights on rear of car. Drivers window also cuts out intermitantly. The window will always roll up but at times will not roll down. I had the switch replaced at dealership but did not fix problem. The window and dash cutting out do not seem related as they happen at different times.

At times when it cuts out it will last for 5 mnutes and then will randomly just come back on when I driving. At other times it will go a whole week without working at all. I have not been able to identify any pattern of when it happens that is relative is weather, moisture, temperature etc.

Other items on the dash such as boost gauge, gas gauge, pressure etc all work fine. The HUD is also unaffected by this so at least I can still see my speed.

I have had this in with several mechancics and electrical shops with no luck. Recently had dash removed and connections re-saudered, this did not help. I have had a grocery list of problems with this Bonne in the last 5 years and it seems to get longer by the month. Have been dumping money into it in an attempt to have it in good selling condition. Impossible to sell as I canot keep up with repairs or figure out how to fix them.
If I could just get the cluster / signals working id fel a lot better about selling it.

Any advice?

I had a similar problem with my GMC truck. I took the cluster out and cleaned the contacts behind it then put it back in and never had a problem. I have never taken the cluster out of my SSEi but I think it'* as easy as pulling the plastic cover off that runs around the radio and cluster. There are two plastic pins above the cluster then the rest are just snap ins. Like I said though, I have never taken the cluster out that I remember. Sawgunner would know how that comes out, or you could just pop the cover and look to see if its got the tabs holding the cluster in that you just push in and it pops out.

Pull the two pins out above the cluster, remove the large black trim bezel going from around the steering wheel down to your hvac controls (it just pulls off, but be gentle so you don't break the clip parts), and then you'll see a bunch of gold squeeze clips around the instrument cluster. Just start squeezing those and start easing it out.
