Default Air Conditioner, no cold air

I have a 2000 SE Bonneville. The air is coming out of the vents hot. The compressor is running and there is cold air going into the evaporator. How can I tell if it'* the evaporator, or an air mix actuator? I checked the passenger side actuator and it is working. Is there a driver'* side actuator? If so, where is it located? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default A/C not cold

I have the same problem my A/C blows very cold on the passenger side but not the driver side in my 00' Bonny. Some people say it could be low R134 but I had it tested on a machine and it was to the proper level w/ no leaks. I got under the dash on both sides found the actuator for the passenger side works and one under the driver side but there seems to be another actuator under the driver side that works and has more than one arm on it any pictures or any more help would be great - sorry miner46 I did not have to much info

Same problem here! I had cold only on passengers side. I recharged and bout day later I get warm air on both sides. I checked both actuators and they work great. Someone please help! My car is black and gets very hot this time of year and I want to park it to drive the reliable 97 lumina!

Same thing with me. I was hot on both sides so I charged my system with a can of refrigerant and now my passenger side works, but not the drivers side.

Also, my compressor when not engaged sounds real noisy - kinda squeeky and rattling. When I engage the air conditioner then the sound stops except when in WOT.

Any ideas?

Ok..sounds like a multitude of issues here. Those of you with cold ac lines outside and no cold air inside, please search on " air mix actuator" in the 00+ mechanical areas. Archon would have posted some great pics of these things.

Those with no cold air and no cold ac lines, search for recharging/checking freon level.

Hopefully that'll cure most of the situations. =0)

I had mechanic check my a/c and he said I had a leak in the evaporator core. He said it was behind the dash and would fix for $700. I found part on GMpartsdirect for $100 cheaper and found someone who said they would replace for $200. So for $450 I can have cold air.
