Can't scan codes

Can't scan codes
I just bought an 02 Bonnevilee SLE. The ses light has come on. I took it to autozone to get the code scanned, but the guy said I am missing 2-3 terminals on my pcm hookup, so he can't even get power to the scanner. Not sure how this could even happen. I then took it to the dealer and they want $110 just to scan it and tell me what is wrong (a little pricey??). Has anybody heard of anything like this, or does the guy at autozone just not know what he is doing? I find it a little hard to believe. Is there anyway to look up codes without a scanner (i.e. some cars you could use a paperclip to jump some terminals and count the flashes, etc.) Car runs perfectly fine, so I can't give a description on what'* wrong. tia

paperclip trick was OBD 1 cars, won't work on yours.
The guy at autozone probably had the wrong connector or did something wrong..(which is next to impossible)
To scan at autozone..
Get their scanner and obd II cable, hook up...turn car ignition to on position..scanner comes to life. the rest is history.

did you ever get a chance to bring the 95 there and see the expression on their face when they tried to scan it with an ODBII Scanner ?
I went in one day to see if they could scan my ssei at autozone and the guy looked at the connector "yeah this will work" plugged the scanner in and nothing....he tried at least a dozen times and then told me to go to the dealer and buy a PCM 
....... Of course when I went to the dealer they wanted $1xx.00 to scan it, talked them down to about half that and got the codes.

Actually there might be something to what he'* saying......l have an Autotap that works flawless on all GM cars I try it on but it won't work on my car....but the dealers Tech 2 does and so does the Aeroforce gauge I just bought.....weird....
