Default Parts backorder

I took my car in a couple of weeks ago to get the new intermediate shaft work done. The service desk manager informs me (after letting the car sit up there all day) that the part(*) is on backorder and was since November. I was a little miffed so I did'nt stick around to get details, but can anyone else confirm that parts needed to fix the turn-clunk are backordered. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I have already had this fixed once (Lube kit I believe) - maybe they're giving priority to repairs done under warranty, or first time complaints?

it'* true. the new (fixed) intermediate steering shaft is on backorder because of the sheer number of cars that are needing it to be replaced.

Guess I should wait to take Kendra'* in. She has been needing a new one for a few months now.
