Oil PSI gauge on dashboard.

Oil PSI gauge on dashboard.
I have a 2000 Bonne and i seem to be having a prob with the oil gauge on the dashboard. All gauges at start do their respective travel and then go back to their starting position but the oil gauge after the first turn goes back to start then to it'* highest peak on the dashboard. How can this be fixed? I tried almost everything but i could not come up with the answer as to were to find the sensor in order to replace it.

So the gauge is always pegged at the top? How does it act while driving?
First thing that comes to mind is the oil pressure sender unit – located on the bottom passenger side of the block.

its a common issue with the Cars espically the 00+....the OP sender has failed, and when it did it sends the gauge to the max reading
i would reommend a AC delco Sender because the aftermarket sensors have been known to have wacky readings when installed

Same symptoms I had last year on my 93. I also suggest an AC Delco. I went with what was on the shelf. It'* not max, but it has a mind of it'* own. I'll be ordering another shortly.

I third the Delco motion. Its a common problem on ALL the years of the 3800, even back like mine. Mine will sit at normal/midrange for idle and then peg if you even TOUCH the gas.
And if you were wondering, its rather easy to replace.

I'm seconding the mind of it'* own that WillWren mentions on 2 sensors from Advance and 1 from Napa. Soon..I'll be getting a new sensor..
To locate the sensor..
Jack and support the front of the car.
Remove passenger side tire.
Remove splash shield to gain access to the lower back of the motor (behind power steering pump, caevat..not sure if the 00'* have a splash shield in this location)
The oil pressure sender will be a black/gray tubular sensor behind the power steering pump to the rear of the motor.
As it is not a normal socket size.. I suggest either buying the specialized socket or carefully using channel locks on the metal part of the sensor only.
