Have leaking fuel line at rear of engine fuel rail connector. Found the Dorman 800-059 repair kit. Understand the elbow, nylon tube and brass sleeve, what is the round gray (about the size of a nickel) with the hole smaller than the nylon fuel line tube for? Thanks

That is a tool for removing the fuel line from the fuel rail. Either so you can replace it if the new line had the end on it or so that you can work with the line easier.

Looking at the top of the fuel rail where the line meets it, that plastic piece slides over the fuel rail before the fuel line connection. Then it pushes into the connector releasing the tabs that hold the line to the fuel rail.

I am more of an old Bonneville mechanic, like '68. GM must have a whole crew of engineers working on new fastners, I like the old school line wrenches and metal fittings. By the way, Advance and AutoZone did not stock this very common part but O'reilly Auto Parts have them in stock.

Hello. First of all, this is one of the best automotive forums I have ever come across and a special thanks to all of you who help others on this great forum!

I have a small fuel leak around the head of my quick connect on the fuel feed line (#1 on diagram). I purchased a Dorman 800-059 repair kit, but the quick connect on the kit does not fit the fuel feed line. It seems to fit the return line just fine, but not the feed.

My question is, does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced kit like the Dorman that will fit that feed line? Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the feed line quick connect? The return line quick connect seems to be 9.5mm on a 3/8" line.

Also, just out of curiosity, why is the feed line quick connect bigger in diameter than the return line?

Many people have found that you can replace the o-rings inside the fuel line if that'* where the leak is happening.

The feed is larger so it can get more fuel to the rails, having a smaller return line will then increase the pressure to the rails beacuse it will restrict fuel from flowing back
