Default Car won't start right after getting gas?

On two separate occasions my bonne has not started after refueling. The first time I parked it for about an hour and it cranked. The second time I removed the gas cap again and then put it back and it cranked. Any clues?

Just a guess, but My brother had issues when he opened the gas cap while the car was running. Our mechanic suggested we always shut the car off before opening the gas cap. His car didn't refuse to start though.

Since the pressure is important, it would make sense that a loose, or old gas cap, might not seal correctly at times, or if it'* vented, it might not be venting correctly.

Check the cap, and replace if needed. If you're unsure, replace it for good measure.

Just a couple guesses....hope it helps..

does youe DIC say Gascap at all when you turn the key to "on" when you goto crank and it doesnt work? Best thing I can say is when you refuel the next time, put the cap on a little bit, then back it off and put it back on as far as it can go. You might not have seated the threads all the way causeing a loss of pressure in the system.

The other thing you want to avoid is overfilling the car. I have run into hard starting and also an idle hesitation if I overfill. Now I just let the pump go on its slowest setting and after it stops I fill to the next round dollar amount. I haven't had a problem since.

......GOOD idea/suggestion that didn't come to mind for me,......my wife has her car('01BonnevilleSE)gassed up every week by a full service station that pumps her gas for her,......the guy fills up the tank so much that you can drive OVER 50 highway miles before the gas gauge drops down TO the full mark on the gauge,......a couple of times the car has had a rough idle and hard starting(more engine cranking than normal)[right after gassing up]AND has kicked out an SES code for an EVAP Emmision Control System Malfunction......that now that you mention it,is probably what is causing the SES light to trigger
