Default 2001 Bonnie Repair Issues (NEW)

I just took my car to midas and they looked at my car with me and this is what we have found so far:

p0420 code SES light is a bad cat, when you bump it you hear a rattle in it, so most likely the cat is bad. All the repair shops I tell about the p0420 code ALL say cat problem. I can wait on this since it is not affecting the drive of the car. Repair cost from midas is: 347.05

2 rear shocks, they are definately bad the air ride cover on them on both sides is ripped and torn and some of it is not even on the shock. So new shocks on the back end will run me: 341.36

Now a new problem which they spotted and I need your help on this since it is effecting the car immediately. There is a crack in the seam of the plastic part of the radiator and is leaking coolant at a high rate, the time we had it at midas there was a puddle already under the car. Midas tells me there is no way to repair the radiator the whole thing would need to come out and be changed. Is there anything I can put into the radiator to help stop or slow this leak down? Midas says if I try to jb weld it I would have to take the radiator out in order to do this considering where the leak is. I always heard there was some kind of liquid or something you could put in your radiator to help plug the leaks, is this true, becuase the cost of replacing the radiator from midas is: 579.55 3-4 hours labor plus parts. So that is the total.

I will definately shop around to find the best price on these fixes, but the only one I would think that would need immediate attention is the radiator leak. Any advise on what I can do to prolong the money from coming out of my pocket which I don't have right now.

Thanks Guys!

Be careful on the cat problem. Had a similar rattle and it was the gasket between the cat and the exhaust manifold, if it was the cat it would have been covered under the cat warranty. You may well have a cat issue- but it is worth looking at the gasket- although it is hard to replace.

You can try BARS Leak. But, if the hole in the radiator is too big, that may not help.

for the shocks go to http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php get the monroe max air MA822

the radiator if yours is like mine it has a tranny cooler in it also i would honestly just replace it order one from rock auto and have your mobile guy do it

Radiatorbarn.com has been great for prices and shipping in the past for me.

The shocks are super easy to change yourself. The radiator isn't fun, but it'* not tough either, the only thing I wouldn't want to do is weld in the cat. Because I don't have a welder.

Midas is on crack with those prices.

I have the same car with 82000 miles on it when i took my cat off and put my new exhaust on,nearly half the material on the inside was burned away and nearly half plugged, and i for sure agree with billsboost and im sure everyone else will too, midas is a little out of control with those prices. And im not sure sombody correct me if im wrong when you get the code 0420 for the low catylist that can effect performance

Yah don't go to Midas, they quoted me 200+ to put an exhaust on which requireed 3 welds and mounting them on the hangers since it was all stock
