Default Bad Coils?

When I changed my plugs/wires this weekend I noticed that 2 was very rusty on the coil, and 4 (if memory serves) was a little rusty. Looks like moisture and I don't think the wires were ever changed.

So is this normal for ~59,000 miles or is there something else to watch for? Do these coils go bad?

doubt the coil is bad. just moisture got in there and did what moisture and oxygen does to metal! just clean them off and wirebrush inside the boot and sock dielectric grease inside all the boots.

All my coils at 110,000 were crystal clean yet I'm getting misfires at idle that I can't even feel. :? Coils can go bad though.

wire wheel FTW. If we end up having a mini meet this week i'll bring my multimeter and we can check your resistance on your coilpacks but chances are they just got some moisture in their. I know TaylorD'* do the same thing last time i talked to him.

Every 3800 engined car that I work on (6) has had at least one rusty coil post. Most times, cleaning them up takes care of it. Some, I've replaced because I didn't like the way the post looked after cleaning.
