Put on a bra 3 months ago and took it off last weekend when I noticed white discolartions all over the nose of the car. Mine is green and the discolorations therefor are pretty obvious. Anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Those things can be nasty because little bits of dirt get underneath and they rub on the paint...no matter how tight it is or how soft the underside is. When the paint is damaged or discoloured, you can try to wax/buff it out. If not, you might have to go to a pro that has a high speed buffer...they can get almost anything out.

The only other thing it could be is the dye from the fabric...but somehow I doubt that - but it would be surface anyway.

of course i will post them. Too bad you didn't mention the whole bra thing before...i think they are the biggest useless worst POS you can EVER waste your money on. Sorry, there'* no way to get it out. At least on mine. Don't feel bad..at least your'* took 3 months to do that...mine too ONE WEEK.

Mine did that originally (on a green car), the effect was more like fog....if you get what I mean. I ran the hood protector (half bra) through the wash on a gentle cycle, and used polishing compound on the fogging on the paint. 3 good coats of wax, and tried it again. As long as I keep a good hard wax coat under it, I don't have a prob any more. Jseabert had the same results.

I still use the hood protector. From the abuse it takes, my paint would look like **** if I didn't. There seems to be a chemical in the vinyl after the bra is manufactured, and you need to get it out.

Don't use a carnuba wax....too soft. Use Liquid Glass, Turtle Wax, or some other 'hard shell' wax on the hood if you are going to run a bra or hood protector. This also offers better protection from rock chips further up the hood.

Too bad about the paint. You might want to stop at a buff shop and see how much and what they can do for you. A buddy of mine has a Grand Prix and had some fairly serious scratches on the hood - for $50.00 (Canadian) they did the high speed buff and you would swear the thing had been re-painted.

He said it was the best 50 bucks he had ever spent on the car.

You never know - it wont hurt to ask.

If you are anything like me, after I know there is something that isnt just quite right...I look at it EVERY time I look at the car! It drives me nuts!

Crap. I knew I hould have posted what happened to me, but the damage was already probably done to your by the time i figured it out anyways....

Had the same thing happen to my car. Had the bra on for about a month, pulled it off to clean the car, and my heart fell into my stomach.

What ACTUALLY happened to mine, according to the body shop, is the clearcoat debonded from the base color. (still looked smooth, but that is what caused to color change) They claim that when water gets under the bra, which is going to happen, and the sun comes out right afterwards, the heat with moisture can cause this problem. (Kind of like putting a hot coffee cup on a peice of furniture. (Leaves that nice ring of damaged finish)

My paint was/is silver, but I don't know if color has anything to do with it.

In my case, and I think most cases, buffing wont do anything. Nothing is going to rebond that clearcoat. Had the whole hood resprayed. looks good right now, but it still pisses me off, and I wonder how is going to look after a couple of years.

Is this a problem with the 2k+ or maybe the design of the hood? Was your hood like that on the bend like tams?

If your asking me....Same place for the lower edge of the delamination, but extended up about 6".

That sucks, I've heard a couple of horror stories about car bra'*. Good luck on getting that fix, might need to leave the bra on forever.
