Default Changing My Driver Information Center on my bonneville

Hi all. This is not a major problem I wold just like to make a adjustment to my "Driver Information Center"On my 2003 Bonneville SLE. The DIC displays "Driver 1" when my wife starts the car. I have been told it is possible to program the DIC to Display her name "Elaine". Anyone have a clue how? E mail me at foxbat40md@yahoo.com or reply here.

You need a tech II scanner to program it, most dealer service dept can do this.
Also have them program the steering to firm while there at it, there are 3 options, soft, normal, and firm.

Thanks PDad. I was hoping that was not the case. I will see how much the cost will be to add names to driver 1 and 2 and to set the ride to firm.

If you talk real nice to the service men the next time you get your car done they might do it for free?

Yup!

When I had 2 new remotes reprogrammed ($24), they did the DIC for free!
My wife'* name is displayed when she drives and "NCC-1701-R" when I drive!
They did it for free. They said they never knew you could do that, I said "The people
on the Bonneville Club says it could be done!"
So the mechanic hooked it up and started looking.
You can have 2 lines of text. Don't remember how many per line?

I think that'* cool!

Boost......and away!

Too bad it can't talk too... "Good morning Dave, would you like to play a game of chess?"
