Where that coil is don't matter, it'* the ICM that tells that coil when to fire. The coils should be matched close. That'* why I said test the coils to make sure it'* the same.

Yea,
I just tested the rack i picked up with the middle one missing, and now they don't match. When they were assembled they all read 5.55 exactly, but now one of 5.69, and the other is 5.78. Are they sold new in sets of 3? Is changing a single one a stupid idea. If i swap the other 2 into the car, will this misfire go away? plz say yes.....:'(!

They are sold as singles, but tend to be close when new. They can change a bit with age. Those aren't off by that much, but try to get them closer. Will it correct the problem, can't say. You should check your plugs that are misfiring. I've seen bad plugs out of the box.

One other thing, It just clicked in my head about the when hot part. That can indicate something is cracked. Like a plug or coil. I know it'* really cold, but take a spray bottle with water and mist around the coils and wires while the engine is running. Turn off all the lights so it'* really dark. Watch for blue flashing around the coils, wires, and plugs. If you see that, your arching to ground and you will have to deal with that.

This is a 2nd run of new plugs. and new wires. Tomorrow it will get a hopefully still perfectly matching set of coils into her.
I don't know which cylinders are misfiring. How can i tell. The computer doesn't pick it up or anything. Plus I don't believe i know how to make our scanner read it.

Like Dan said..the water misting is a good way to see which coil and or which set of plugs is grounding out. If the missing is really bad, you can use a set of insulated wire pullers like these Buy Cheap Spark Plug Wire Puller Pliers, Spark Plug Wire Pliers and while the vehicle is running, pull the wire from a coil. If the car runs worse when pulled, that would not be the bad wire/coil pack. If the car runs the same when a wire is pulled, that'* the one that you need to replace. Definitely don't due this bare handed and especially while resting laying across the fender...you'll think you got kicked in the jewels by a mule.

If you pull the plugs the bad one(*) will be darker in color and or could be wet with gas. There is also the possibility you have a fowled injector.

HaHa yeaaa, so far this car has shocked me, burned me, pinched me, shocked me again, and spewed random fluids all over me. I changed out the other 2 coils, and now its the matched set of 3. It purrs like a kitten now. So i guess having mismatched coils can produce a pretty bad situation. I'm just glad it worked. Maybe now I can drive this car for more than 3 days before a new problem creeps up.

Well my car ran flawlessly for 2 days, and started to sputter a little on the highway tonight. Not nearly as bad as before, but bad enough to be of concern. I will check the coils again tomorrow, but if they are wacky again, could my car be doing something to them?
I know you all love your bonnies, but mine is causing me amazing stress. I guess I'm just lucky lol
