Default Stabilizer Bars

I noticed under my hood today that i don't have a stabilizer bar. I've noticed on some pictures here some cars have them. I'm guessing probably the SLE'* and GXP'*. What is the purpose of the stabilizer bar and can one be added if you don't have one?

On the older generation Bonnevilles the strut tower brace provided rigidity between strut towers. Basically prevents the strut towers from closing into one another through body flex and so forth. The newer 00+ Bonnevilles have a strenghtened & more rigid unibody and supposedly do not require strut tower braces.

You are referring to the strut tower brace and not the stabilizers (suspension) underneath the vehicle, correct?
