Can you list OEM type battery brands/sizes/cost for compare?
I need a new battery for an 05. I'm too lazy to do all the stupid research. Is there a quick list of the brands that fit the goofy vented application and some costs of each? It would be easier to just pull the trigger and go to one store rather than looking, comparing, calling, looking, comparing, calling.......
I've searched the posts but I would like a short list from anybody who replaced there's recently and found a good value. |
I noticed you mentioned '05 is your car under warranty? if so the battery should last longer, I'm sure the dealer will replace it if your car is still under warranty and the battery is completely trashed.
Autozone version..probably will be the cheapest compared to others... GOLD-DURALAST Battery for a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville Unit Price: $99.99 Part No.: 100-DLG Weight: 38.3 lbs. Warranty: 8 YR *** 770 cold cranking Amps (905 cranking Amps) *** (battery is vented to outside of vehicle) Battery is located in the back room not on battery rack. -> 3 years free replacement <- I think the dealer battery is somewhere between $150-$200. |
optima... by far best bang for the buck... they cost about 150 bucks but they are great batteries

i have the one Hans listed, great battery.. cheapest one i found Without extensive fabrication you will not be able to use an optima due to the vent tube differences. the thing is...a lot of guys run the optimas in the trunks unvented no problem when you get a huge stereo. so its hard to say how much gas actually leaks out and if they actually need to be vented....thats the bigger question here. I'm going to write them a letter to see what they think. |
Replacement battery
I went into Autozone this weekend to order the Duralast Gold battery (Group 79) and the guy behind the counter checked the computer and said he could not even order one.
NAPA does have one available, $135.00 exchange, Sears also offers a Diehard International for $129.00 exchange, some of the Sears actually stock the Group 79 but do not offer it in anything other than the International version. |
