Callibrate compass
 

has anyone ever seen the calibrate compass on there display yet. I had just calibrated mine 2 mounths ago and it came on. Than i hit select and it went away. any thoughts or comments?

I've had to recalibrate my compass whenever I have put my tool boxes in the trunk. The compass module is located underneith the rear package tray in the trunk. It is sensitive to metallic objects getting close to it. To recalibrate the compass, I believe you have to set the proper zone (see owners manual) and then drive around in slow clockwise circles until it displays calibration complete.

By just hitting the select button, you most likely do not have the compass display any longer. The next time you start your car, it will probably display the message again.

you are proably right about that. i just put my amp and subs in the trunk and it happened the day the amp went in. but i did not calibrate the compass and it works just fine. you were saying that the box is in the trunk for the compass, is there a way to keep it from being affected? if so i would like to know how. any help will be helpful and i would be thankfull.

Not having a system in my b'ville makes it hard to answer this, but you might just try to recailbrate it (if it isn't working properly) and keep your amp/subs tied down good so they don't move around. The compass module might take into account the new "affected" state and work ok from then on until you remove your system if the need arises.

Other than that, You'll have to wait for someone with a 00+ & a system to chime in to tell you for sure if that will work. Good Luck!

I have an amp + subs in the trunk too that are probably interfering with the compass sensor..Ocasionally I get the CALIBRATE COMPASS alert. Generally I ignore it, and it goes away.
