cabin air filter installation
Just got the Fram CF8804 cabin air filter with the plastic bracket, as my car had nothing installed. Can someone tell me the proper orientation for installing the filter? Does the part of the filter that is folded back over the rest of it face up or down, and go towards the front or back of the car? I've tried all ways and none seem to fit.

I did a little write-up on the GXP forum with pictures.
try this: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...t=cabin+filter It'll go in upside down to what you think is correct, and I think my filter was mismarked for "air flow" direction. |
Yeah, the airflow was mismarked, that's what was throwing me off, thanks. The pics were a big help.

I forgot to mention that while you have the cover off, check the fan for leaves, pine needles, etc. If they start to slip thru the fan blades, the fan gets noisy.

I'm just wondering
I found this forum because of its having had instructions on how to install the Fram cabin air filter - and, like so many others, I learned that I had NO filter in the car when I bought it. It's only been installed for three days - today was a hot one as I was leaving the office, and the A/C system was blowing its heart out -
is it just me, or can I really tell that the air quality is better AND the fan noise is muted somewhat? Did someone else share this fantasy with me, or am I just making it up in my head? |
No you can hear the difference when the filter is in or not.
Not sure on air quality though, I live in the north everyday is good air day :P |

Not sure on air quality though, I live in the north everyday is good air day :P Plus, the cedar and the pines are pollinating of late, so I thought it possible that my charcoal activated Fram (tm) air filter was improving my olfactory experience inside my Bonnie. Isn't it a hoot that it seems Pontiac delivered all these cars with the Passenger Cabin filter hole, the instructions absent in the manual, and no one to tell us that life could be better with a big orange box? :hail: |
Glad we could help, and welcome aboard!
