welcome to the club....
you might just need to get pwr and ground to the mirror to make it work...LOTS on ppl have done it on the early gens, but never on the 00+. Im sure that it can be done
as for the Radio.....if you have the Tech 2 they you should be fine as the VIN is incoded into the radio, but you already knew that

These are the steps that you will need to take to program your new radio.
Complete the following procedure, using a scan tool, in order to properly set up communication:
On your Tech II scan tool, follow these steps.
1. At the Main Menu screen, select: Diagnostics.
2. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the following options:
* Model Year
* Passenger Car
3. At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body.
4. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the appropriate model.
5. At the Body screen, select: Radio.
6. At the Radio screen, select: Special Functions.
7. At the Special Functions screen, select: Radio Setup.
8. At the Radio Setup screen, press ENTER. The following test will set up a new or existing radio.
9. Verify that the scan tool displays "Test in Progress."
10. Verify that the scan tool displays "Test Completed Successfully."
11. Press EXIT on the scan tool and cycle the ignition.
The radio set up will configure the following systems:
* Steering Wheel Controls
* LEARN VIN
* Diagnostic Trouble Codes
* Class 2 Radio Messages
Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC).

yes, it has been done.
2 wires, power and ground can easily be obtained from the overhead cigarette lighter or sunroof, depending on equipment
i didnt even bother looking for a factory connector

Welcome aboard Brad....would you mind if I ask where you are located with that super cool Tech 2 of yours?
As far as the mirror goes, these guys have it right -- just power (switched) and ground. If you want to get a little more fancy, you can get a mirror with a compass built in too if you don't have that on your car already.
