Default Transmission Flush

Hey Guys,

This is my first day on the site and I have been trying to find a link to doing a transmission flush and filter change. I have a 2002 Bonneville SE that I just bought. It only has 12k on it, but I would still like to do this. I called the dealership and they wanted $280. plus parts. I was wondering if someone had a link with pics that could help me.

Thanks for your help,

Danny

Welcome to the club Danny.

Wow that is a low mileage Bonne.

You don't really need to flush it. Purchase a new filter and 6 litres of trani fluid. The gasket is reuseable.
Drop the pan, clean it well with solvent, replace the filter, put the pan back on and fill it up. Simple job that will only cost you about $50.

Pay attention to the filter. You may have to swap the fitting from the old to the new. It simply pulls off without any bolts.

i just did a flush at my local xpress lube...they did not change the filter or anything, but it only cost me $100 usd....if i wanted the filter done it would be 40 extra....still not 280...

looks like you are on the fast track to a really long lasting trans if you do flushes every 12-15k...

Default Miles

Yes it has only 12045 miles. It was my wife'* grandparents car, and they hardly drove it and always had it in the garage. I don't think it has ever been driven in the rain.

Welcome to BC, Danny. Places such as ExpressLube do a backflush type flush & replenish 90% of the transmission fluid. Like stated above it will cost approximately $100, but it is an alternative to doing it yourself.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will take it to one of those places. 100 is alot more reasonable than 280. Thanks again.
