Re: guages all messed up
This sure sounds familiar. Schematics of the data bus are in this thread.

Is your car still under warranty? If so, have the dealer track down the problem. Some have had problems start to develop with the dash, requiring replacement.

The main concern about driving it the way that it is, is that you will have no warning if something serious (overheating, drop of oil pressure, etc.) does happen. There are a few things you can try yourself, if you have some basic tools, before sending it in for repair.
Start with cleaning all of the battery and ground connections that you can find. Pay particular attention to the bolt that holds down the negative battery cable to the floor pan under the seat. Remove that, and clean up the bolt and threads in the floor the best that you can. Apply some dielectric grease before attaching them again. Do the same for the positive connection at the rear fuse block, as well as under the hood. Then, see if the 3 little bolts in the underhood fuse block are good and snug, and check the connection to the alternator.
If those things do not solve your problem, measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. Is it a relatively stable reading, or does it fluctuate like the dash reading. If so, it'* possible that you have a faulty alternator.
