BIG QUESTION?

Ladies and Gents,

Here's my question/problem. I recently purchased new 18" Eco Mia Chrome Rims to upgrade my 01 SSEi. I'm looking for tires. I really want the 255/45/ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. However, the minimum rim width recommended by the tire manufacturer is 8" and my new rims are 18 X 7.5 in. I know BMW did a simliar thing by putting 8" minimum recommended tires on a 7.5 in rim with their M3 in 95 and 96.

The guys at the tire place tell me they'll mount fine and that I'll just have a slight overhang (1/4 in) on each side but that it won't ride worse, handle worse, or affect the tread life. What do you guys think? Please let me know.

Later,
Jason

its fine

They do it to 4x4 truck tires all the time. You may be suprized how wide of a tire they can fit onto the stock wheel

That is fine, I wouldn't worry about it at all, we have 10.5" slicks on stock GTP wheels (7 or 7.5" I think), and they work fine, just a bit of overhang.
