Need a new battery---CHECK OUT THE PICS!
2002 SSEi just like the sig says. I need a new battery. Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and O' Reilly all have it for $130. I haven't done a visual on any of them, but I'm sure they are the right kind with the vents. All have 800 CCA and 1000 regular amps. Auto Zone has their Duralast with 8 year warranty, 3 year being full replacement, the other 5 being pro-rated. Advance Auto has the their Auto Craft with the same warranty. I don't know the name of O' Reilly'* battery but it also has the same warranty.
I really want to put an Optima in the car but I'm not sure if I'll be able to because of venting.
Suggestions?

Last I heard I think Optima put one out that does fit your application. IIRC the cost was prohibitive as well as being able to get one in a reasonable amount of time. Most places didn't stock it.

I guess I can check Wal-Mart too. I got lucky kind of, my wife'* battery went FUBAR and I just returned it for refund. So that'* $90 towards the purchase of a new battery for my car.
Good thing she wanted to spend her money on an Optima.

Nope. That'* the one I'd buy because I had great service from the Walmart (Johnson Controls) battery in my 98.
They must not want to mess with seats and vents.
Oreilly had an $89 battery same 770 cca and similar warranty and supposed uses the same vent tubes as the original size.
Someone had posted there is a new replacement size with a new set of vent tubes from AC Delco.

Well, I asked Wal-Mart...and they don't have one that fits my car. Guess I'll be a Duralast battery. Since I've never known anybody to have one of those fail. Not going to be the the Auto Craft one from Advance Auto because that'* the kind my wife had in her car and it failed in a year.
But, I found out what was wrong with my batter. 1) It was the factory original battery. 7 years old. That'* a little past it'* expected life. 2) When going to take it out to have it tested, the positive terminal ripped out...broke...stuck to the cable.
So now I have to get the car towed to my local car shop so they can either get that junk part of the battery off the cable, or cut it off and replace it. Good thing is the owner of the place is a nice guy and should be willing to give me a ride to the parts store to get the battery.

What specific battery did you buy, who did you buy it from, and what did you pay? I have a 2001 with 175,000 miles and the original battery. I'm sure I'll need one soon.

Ouch! Got a little corrosion going on there.
Should come off with a little PB Blaster and some real, needle nosed vise grips.
BTW, Your alternator hates you!

Alternator hates me why? Everytime I checked it out, it was charging at 14.7 volts regularly.
